MIM Propose Closure of UK Zinc Smelter

MIM Holdings have just submitted a proposal to trade unions regarding the closure of Brittania Zinc, their subsidiary located in Avonmouth, UK.

During the next 90 days, they will look at alternatives to closing the plant.

This follows on from the recent exit from their zinc smelter in Duisburg, Germany. Both plants are considered non-core businesses and MIM have been looking for exit strategies for them both for some time as they have both been sustaining losses despite operating improvements.
