Website Allows Everyone to Get Inspired and Make 3D Printed Products

A pioneering new website launched by a Hertfordshire firm is bringing 3D printing to the “masses”.

Chess set

People can submit designs to be printed via Selassi 3D Print’s site or consult with a team of designers, with prices starting from £50.

The move signals a “giant leap forward” for the printing industry, making the technology more accessible to the general public.

Dave Bennion, managing partner at Selassi, said: “The website has been created to allow everyone to get inspired and make, buy or sell products using our processes.

“We know that 3D printing has been around for a while, but the choice of materials and other variants haven’t been made available to the mass market. This is why we’re so excited about the opportunity Selassi will provide for every budding creative.

“Myself and the team have significant experience in 3D printing and this project is about sharing our talent and experience. Selassi is about bringing the technology to the masses and we believe is a giant leap forward for our industry.”

Unlike traditional machining processes that remove material to create a part, 3D printing uses an additive process where parts are created layer by layer, in a range of shapes and sizes.

The precise process will use laser sintering. Selective laser sintering is a well-developed 3D print and additive manufacturing process, which lends itself to producing products with complex geometries.
