3M Acquire Sponge Manufacturer

3M announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Nylonge Corp., a global provider of household cleaning products including cellulose sponges, scrub sponges and household wipes. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

This acquisition expands 3M's global manufacturing capabilities adding another source of supply to continue building its global cleaning tools businesses. "Nylonge complements 3M's well-known line of cleaning tools including scrub sponges, scour pads, mops and household wipes," said Andy Naber, division vice president, 3M Home Care Division. "In addition to its Elyria, Ohio-based facility, Nylonge's global distribution complements 3M's manufacturing operations, broadening our worldwide reach."

Nylonge's line of products includes cellulose sponges, scrub sponges, sponge block, sponge cloth, dust cloths and vinyl gloves. Complementary acquisitions such as this support 3M's core business. For over 40 years 3M has helped consumers clean with Scotch-Brite and O-Cel-O brand cleaning products.

"We see strong technical synergies and manufacturing capabilities with 3M," said George Hrabik, president, Nylonge. "Together we will expand the businesses beyond the current customer base."
