Bridgestone Establishes Tire Business Headquarters in Dubai and Singapore

Bridgestone Corporation has announced that it has established two tire business SBU (strategic business unit) headquarters-one in Dubai covering the Middle East and Africa region, and the other in Singapore covering the Asia-Pacific region. Both offices will begin operation on October 1.

Bridgestone has set up each SBU with the objectives of speeding up decision-making and action, and of optimizing regional strategy by identifying market trends close to the customer and market. The efforts form part of structural reforms set to take place on October 16, 2006, as announced on September 1, 2006.

The SBU headquarters in Dubai will have more functional responsibilities than Bridgestone's existing sales subsidiary there and will be in charge of the Middle East and Africa region. The SBU headquarters in Singapore will cover the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China. The sales, marketing and operation management and coordination for business units handled in Japan for these areas will be transferred to the respective SBU headquarters from October 1 onward.
