Bespak Chosen to Design, Develop and Manufacture Needle-Free Solid Dose Injector

Bespak, a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of specialty medical devices, has been appointed by Glide Pharma™, formerly known as Caretek Medical, to develop and manufacture its innovative Glide™ needle-free solid dose injector.

Utilising Bespak’s proprietary product introduction methodology, BPIP (Bespak Product Introduction Process), an accelerated technology transfer has already delivered ‘proof of principle’ prototype and design concepts into Bespak’s development team. Working closely with Glide Pharma, a detailed device design, suitable for industrialisation and volume manufacture, is being developed to support the customer’s clinical programme.

The Glide™ technology comprises a reusable actuator to which a prefilled, disposable drug cassette is attached. The first commercial application of the Glide™ technology will deliver a formulation of Sumatriptan for the rapid relief of migraine.

Mike Bastin, Commercial Manager at Bespak commented, “The Glide™ technology will offer significant benefits to patients and is an innovative and practical alternative to conventional needle-based delivery systems. Naturally we are delighted to have been selected by Glide Pharma and we look forward to contributing to the successful development and manufacture of this device.”

Dr Charles Potter, CEO at Glide Pharma, stated “We have been working closely with the team at Bespak on the commercialisation of our Glide™ actuator and drug cassette and we are extremely pleased with the progress that has been made. Bespak has the skills and experience to ensure that our innovative device is designed and manufactured to the demanding requirements necessary in the pharmaceutical industry.”
