Michelin to Stop Producing Tires in Nigeria

Michelin has decided to terminate tire production at its plant in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The Nigerian government was informed of this strategic decision on Tuesday, January 16. It was agreed that the two parties would work together to find a buyer as soon as possible.

Short-time working measures already introduced for employees at the plant will be extended until the end of May 2007. The goal is to find and rapidly implement appropriate measures to support the employees concerned.

Michelin will maintain its sales operations and plantations in Nigeria.
