Hydro Consider Closing French Aluminium Extrusion Plant

After unsuccessful attempts to sell its extrusion die facilities in Lucé, France, Hydro has informed the work council and local employees about the conclusion of the negotiations and that it is considering closing the facilities.

Hydro has spent the last six months negotiating the sale of Hydro Aluminium Extrudie Services following its announcement in November 2006 to concentrate its production of high-performance extrusion dies at the Hydro site in Eupen, Belgium.

An open dialogue with union representatives has been initiated. The aim is to negotiate an agreement that will minimize the effect of the considered closure on its 36 employees, with focus on internal transfers and the support of employees.

Hydro Aluminium Extrudie Services is part of Hydro's Extrusion Europe business sector.
