Merck and Toyo Launch Hiding Effect Pigments

Following a joint development programme between Merck KGaA and Toyo Aluminium, they will launch a new range of innovative hiding effect pigments.

The first product that will be made available to the US, Europe and Japan later this year will be a reddish-orange pigment. The colour derived from a ferric oxide coating applied to aluminium flakes.

The pigment is achieved using hiding power and high colour intensity using a combination of Merck’s water-phase coating technology, in conjunction with anti-corrosive aluminium flakes produced using a passivation technique developed by Merck and Toyo.

More colours are planned for release in the future.
