DIY Cuvettes for Spectroscopy and Microscopy

The latest advances in spectroscopy and fluorometry involving sophisticated bio micro applications are beginning to outdistance the limited capability of old fashioned quartz cuvettes. This is especially true when the cost of purchasing, cost of cleaning, and the possibility of contaminated results from the re-use of quartz cuvettes are taken into account. ALine has solved the obsolete quartz cuvette problem by introducing a new family of disposable, micro volume cuvettes with short path lengths, and UV and IR transparency that can be used in standard laboratory instrumentation such as spectrometers and microscopes. What's more, ALine's flexible bio micro fluidic manufacturing technology and rapid prototyping capability allow these innovative cuvettes to be offered with a wide range of functional enhancements that can be selected from a menu of readily available options. Delivery of the first articles of a customized opti on can be typically less than one week with delivery of production quantities of the identical configuration following immediately thereafter.

"Over the last six months we have seen a significant increase in the number of requests for custom combinations of our most advanced bio micro fluidic functions," noted Dr. Leanna Levine, CEO and Founder of ALine. "We originally responded to this growing trend by adding a Custom Design Worksheet to our web site and now we are further expanding our offerings by adding a Custom Bio Micro Cuvette Selector Guide as well. Our ability to integrate complex functions into our bio micro fluidic products, coupled with our quick turn around prototyping capability, allows us to offer our latest bio micro innovations as custom options on virtually all of our products."

ALine's customized bio micro fluidic cuvettes can be configured with a pipette interface or as flow cells. They can be delivered with selectable volumes and path lengths for use in standard spectrometer or fluorimeter receptacles or on a microscope stage. The cuvettes can be made for compatibility with biologics, or organics such as hexane or toluene. The bio micro cuvettes can incorporate porous membranes for cell retention or meshes for bead retention, as well as interface to electrodes or sensors such as sensors for monitoring oxygen levels during cell respiration. Multiplexed micro-channels and windows of various sizes and path lengths can be provided. Every option is disposable so that no cleaning is required, and no chance of introducing contamination to ruin results. A new selector guide for a wide range of ALine's custom "Build-Your-Own-Cuvettes" ™ is now available on the ALine web site. Consult with ALine for additional configurations.
