DuPont's Tyvek Used to Identify Marathon Runners

Race numbers printed on lightweight DuPont™ Tyvek® identified 7,400 runners from 66 nations who recently participated in a marathon in Luxembourg. Large crowds lined the marathon route, making quality numbers a key factor in identifying runners.

Various unique properties, such as extraordinary strength, tear-resistance, light weight, flexibility, smoothness, breathability and water-resistance made Tyvek® the ideal choice for the identification tags. Tyvek® easily can adapt to athletes' movements without hindering them or tearing when attached with safety pins - even when wet. Tyvek® also offers excellent print quality and quick drying times, allowing for a vast amount of identification tags to be produced wiith relatively short notice.

"Thanks to its inherent properties, Tyvek® was selected to print the racing numbers," said Brigitte Kaiser, DuPont Marketing Communications, Luxembourg. "We are pleased to see that Tyvek® is increasingly used as identification tags for races and security wristbands for sports events."
