The positive element of the type S thermocouple contains Platinum / Rhodium Thermocouple Alloy Pt90 / Rh10. Type S thermocouples are characterised by a high degree of chemical inertness and stability at high temperatures. Type S Thermocouples using Platinum / Rhodium Thermocouple Alloy Pt90 / Rh10. are commonly used as a standard for calibration of base metal thermocouples.
