Polymer Property Determination by ipolytech

Mechanical Property Determination

Within our mechanical test laboratory we are able to generate standard mechanical test data for typical datasheet parameters such as:

  • Tensile, Properties
  • Flexural Properties
  • Compressive Properties
  • Shear Modulus
  • Bulk Modulus
  • Density
  • Melting Point
  • Izod Impact
  • Charpy Impact
  • Tensile impact
  • Shore Hardness
  • Vickers Microhardness
  • Melt flow Index
  • Chemical Resistance

Properties for FEA

Combining our knowledge of FEA and the mechanical performance of polymeric materials we are able to generate reliable data for FEA input. Non linear stress strain data can be provided for direct input into FEA packages together with parameters for hyper-elastic material models such as Mooney-Rivlin, Arruda-Boyce, Ogden. Our test laboratories are also able to provide hysteresis and Mullins effects in elastomers.

Long Term Mechanical Properties

Polymer materials are visco-elastic in nature. Their properties are highly time, temperature and stress dependant. The significance of this is often overlooked at the design stage. At ipolytech we have significant experience in characterising the long term properties of materials as a function of:

  • Fatigue
  • Creep
  • Stress Relaxation
  • Thermal Ageing
