Introduction

Aluminium /aluminum alloys are good low-temperature alloys with strong corrosion resistance characteristics and high electrical conductivity. Both aluminium /aluminum and its alloys are in great demand as they are easy to acquire, fabricate and maintain.

Machinability – of aluminium / aluminum 7175 alloy is easily possible. This alloy can be heat treated. It can also be hardened by cold working or heat treatment.

Cold and hot working - Conventional methods can be used for cold working aluminium / aluminum 7175 alloy allowing generous bend radii as with aluminium / aluminum 7075 alloy. Hot working is possible as well.

Forging and forming - Aluminium / aluminum 7175 alloy can be forged, and can also be formed by hand or die forging as it is a forging alloy.

Aging - Aluminium / aluminum 7175 alloy is an age-hardenable alloy.

Applications

Aluminium / aluminum 7175 alloy can be used in machined fittings of the aircraft industry.
