Introduction

Cupronickel alloys (UNS C70600 - C71500) are a category of copper alloys. Copper UNS C71580 alloy is a wrought alloy that has good corrosion resistance especially to saline water and ductility. However, cupronickel alloys display high corrosion rates in polluted or stagnant seawater especially when sulfides or ammonia are present. Hence care must be taken to avoid the use of these alloys in such conditions.
