Introduction
Titanium alloys have many good attributes such as superior corrosion resistance, very high tensile strength, and durability.
Grade 16 Ti-0.05Pd alloy is comparatively lower in cost, and a leaner palladium version of grade 7. This alloy is similar to grade 7 with respect to physical/mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The presence of palladium helps to enhance the alloy’s corrosion resistance. Grade 16 has good formability.
The following sections will discuss in detail about grade 16 Ti-0.05Pd alloy.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment
Welding
Weldability of grade 16 Ti-0.05Pd alloy is rated as very good. This alloy is a single-phase material, hence the microstructure of the alpha phase is not affected by thermal treatments or welding temperatures.
Annealing
Annealing of this material can be performed by heating to 650-760°C (1202-1400°F) for 6 min to 2 h and then air cooled. In case stress relieving is required, the material has to be heated to 480-595°C (896-1103°F) for 15 min to 4 h, and then air cooled.
Applications
Grade 16 Ti-0.05Pd alloy is chiefly used in chemical processing industry applications.
