Introduction

INCONEL MA754 is an oxide dispersion strengthened, nickel-chromium super alloy. It is produced by mechanical alloying. Mechanical alloying involves high-energy milling of metal powders to produce a uniformly distributed, fine dispersoid of yttrium oxide in the alloy.

The following section explains in detail about super alloy INCONEL MA754.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Machinability

INCONEL MA754 is readily machined using all the conventional processes.

Welding

Brazing is commonly used to weld this alloy. Laser and electron beam welding is also used. Using the conventional TIG welding can lead to reduced high temperature stress rupture strength at the joint.

Hot Working

INCONEL MA754 can be hot worked into any desired shape; however this can be done before grain coarsening final annealing.

Cold Working

INCONEL MA754 can be easily cold worked.

Applications

INCONEL MA754 is chiefly used in applications where high temperature creep resistance and corrosion resistance are required.

INCONEL MA754 is also used in the following:

  • Gas turbine engine components
  • Furnace fixtures
  • Skid rails
  • Fasteners
