Laminated Glass Protective Interlayer

Solutia Inc. the world’s largest producer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) protective interlayer used to manufacture laminated glass, today launched Vanceva (TM) Secure at Equip Auto in France.

Vanceva (TM) Secure provides at least two minutes of intrusion resistance to protect a vehicle and its contents from theft. Vanceva (TM) Secure is the first Vanceva brand product offered for the automotive industry and is the latest type of interlayer available to produce higher performing Enhanced Protective Glass (EPG) for the global automotive marketplace.

“Vanceva (TM) Secure provides consumers with maximum intrusion resistance for their vehicle windows,” said Mitch Pulwer, Solutia’s Worldwide Automotive Marketing Director. “Vanceva (TM) Secure offers four times the protection of standard EPG, and 40 times the protection of standard tempered glass found in most automobiles.” According to police, 50 percent of all car break-ins take place through the side windows.

Vanceva (TM) Secure is a composite interlayer for laminated glass. It is composed of thin films of PVB and other plastic materials that are laminated between two sheets of glass. The result is exceptional resistance to intrusion - at least two minutes of break-in protection. Security experts generally consider the protection of standard EPG to be enough to thwart many break-in attempts. Vanceva (TM) Secure can provide an even higher level of protection to side, rear and roof windows.
