Versatile Tribological Testing - Bruker UMT TriboLab™

The Bruker UMT platform has become the standard for mechanical testing and tribology studies in labs around the world. Three generations of product developments since 2000 have produced the most versatile and widely used tribometer on the market.

The new UMT TriboLab™ has been designed from the ground up, to build on that legacy with even more functionality, using a unique modular concept, all whilst maintaining the highest standards of performance.

Most tribological instruments available today are single-function testers. The UMT TriboLab™ is different, with a versatile modular design which allows it to be transformed from rotary to reciprocating motion, from sub-newton to kilo-newton force measurement, or from room temperature up to 1000°C for environmental testing, all within minutes.

The key element in TriboLab™’s new design is a high-performance motor mounted in the center of a proprietary vibration-dampened column. Four interchangeable mechanical drives translate this power into linear and rotary motion, across a full range of speeds and torques, to provide a full range of rotary, reciprocating, block-on-ring, and linear tribology and scratchtest configurations. No other mechanical testers on the market can provide this much flexibility in a single platform.

Other unique features, such as tool-less drive changeover, blind-mate electrical connections, the TriboID automated component identification, and the newly designed TriboScript software, make the UMT TriboLab™ the simplest and most efficient tester available.
