Researchers Develop Biomimetic Surface Using Synthetic Polymer for Cancer Cell Removal

A research team led by Seungpyo Hong, who serves as Assistant Professor of Biopharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago has developed a highly sensitive biomimetic surface utilizing the anti-epithelial cell adhesion molecule called aEpCAM and the dendrimers of seventh-generation polyamidoamine called PAMAM to remove circulating cancer cells from the blood.

Novel Method Facilitates Silicon and Piezoelectric Material Integration for Near-NEMS Device Fabrication

A research team led by Professor Chang-Beom Eom at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has found a way to create a low-voltage near-nanoscale electromechanical device by integrating a complex, single-crystal, piezoelectric material called lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate (PMN-PT) having ‘giant’ piezoelectric properties with silicon.

Scientists Synthesize Novel Compound Crystal Material with Superior Optical Properties

A research team led by Cun-Zheng Ning, who serves as Professor of electrical engineering at the Arizona State University, has synthesized a new compound crystal material dubbed erbium chloride silicate in the single-crystal nanowire form, paving the way to design future-generation computers, enhance internet capabilities, improve the quality of the sensor and solid-state lighting technology and improve the conversion efficiency of the silicon-based solar cells.
