Mohawk Industries Complete Purchase of Dal-Tile

The acquisition of Dal-Tile International by Mohawk Industries is now complete. The merger of the two companies was approved back in November 0f 2001. Soon after, Dal-Tile also acquired Olean Tile Company, the second largest US ceramic tile manufacturer.

Dal-Tile was the largest ceramic tile manufacturer in the US (even before the Olean acquisition), provides Mohawk Industries with a vehicle to grow its hard surfaces division. Mohawk Industries will also use the Dal-Tile distribution channels to market its range of stone products, giving them a comprehensive range of flooring materials, which also includes carpets.

While the board have no lofty expectations in the first 12 months of combined operation, they hope to lay the groundwork for strong growth in the future. They hope to be able to identify synergies between the two operations and leverage off these to the benefit of the entire organisation.
