ThyssenKrupp Expands Facilities For Timber Ties Production

ThyssenKrupp GfT Gleistechnik GmbH, a company belonging to Düsseldorf-based ThyssenKrupp Services AG, is investing in the revamping of its timber tie production plant at Gross Oesingen, Lower Saxony, Germany.

As part of the successive expansion of the facility acquired in January 2007, ThyssenKrupp GfT Gleistechnik is setting up a bandsaw line of MH-Maschinen / Söderhamn Eriksson, a debarking and measuring plant for round timber of Häwa / Jörg as well as a tie sorting and stacking plant from HIT / Balz Ruho-tec. The modernization work also includes the assembly line for the track ties. There are no plants to extend the existing production capacity.

Within the same context, ThyssenKrupp GfT Gleistechnik GmbH is investing in tension clamp production and a rail switch manufacturing facility in Coswig near Magdeburg where at the end of December 2007, General Manager Harald Bogedein laid the foundation stone for a track fastening and industrial switch production plant. At this location and over the months ahead a facility comprising new production shop with offices and ancillary buildings will be constructed on a total site area of almost 27,000 square meters. "The sharp rise in business for these products and the further expansion of our systems competence were the decisive factors for these moves," explains the General Manager of ThyssenKrupp GfT Gleistechnik."
