Kyocera Corporation Has Developed A High-Quality Industrial Precision Knife

Kyocera Corporation has announced a new development in the field of machine tools.

Kyocera Corporation has developed a high-quality “Industrial Precision Knife,” which provides greater strength and longer tool life through the use of new materials with a breakthrough super micro-grain composition. The new product is due to go on sale from April 20, 2004.

The Industrial Precision Knife will be used in the slitting process employed to finely slice high polymer material, such as photosensitive film, used in the etching of circuits on printed circuit boards and liquid crystal polarizing films. The new materials developed for this product—Super Micro-Grain Carbide and Super Micro-Grain Cermet—have achieved an approximate 20-fold extension in the tool life of metal knives predominantly used to date.
