Vita to Open Foam Conversion Plant in Romania

Vita is pleased to announce that plans are in place to open a foam conversion factory in Romania in the third quarter of 2004. The factory is being set up in Timisoara, close to the Hungarian border. Timisoara is in Timis county, one of the largest centres in Romania for the production of upholstered furniture. Romania has benefited from a rapid expansion in furniture and bedding manufacture, brought about through recent investment by Western European furniture manufacturers. The products from this industry are largely for export out of Romania, but with a population of 22 million and increasing prosperity, this industry will more and more service the local market. As with Vita's move into Hungary, this strategic investment will follow existing customers into a new country and will allow Vita to continue to supply them with the full range of foam products.

Sited just 150km over the border from Vita's new foam production facility at Paks in Hungary, the conversion factory at Timisoara will be supplied with block foam from Hungary when production comes on-stream later this year. New equipment is being installed during May and commissioning is planned for June.
