BASF Introduce 6 New Light Stabilizers to Plastics Range

6 new products supplement BASF’s Uvinul® range of light stabilizers for plastics. They are 5 products from the benzotriazole class and 1 monomeric HALS (hindered amine light stabilizer). These standard grades extend the existing range of specialties and can be used for both polyolefins and engineering plastics.

“For BASF, light stabilizers for plastics are a strategic field of growth. We offer customers an attractive product portfolio as well as world-wide service and know-how for all aspects of polymer stabilization”, says Clemens Karg, head of Global Marketing Performance Chemicals for Plastics.

Without light stabilizers, use of plastics in outdoor applications would be greatly reduced. The ultra-violet part of daylight induces degradation reactions in the polymer that lead to deterioration of mechanical and optical properties.
