Exova's new laboratory in Aberdeen, opened specifically to serve the Offshore oil and gas industry, is now offering a portable test facility which allows for accurate testing of weld repairs on pipelines and fittings Offshore.
Exova is able to identify the metal grade and weldability of metals on the Offshore pipelines and fittings using Positive Material Identification equipment (PMI).
This portable equipment is suitable for customers in the Offshore sector as testing can be carried out in situ without having to remove samples for analysis in the laboratory. This will assist you in saving time, money and resource as well as avoiding disruption.
Exova is equipped with state of the art PMI equipment and has a team of technically qualified personnel complete with Offshore Survival Certification who can be mobilized within 24 -48 hours.
The PMI service uses both X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Optical Spectrometer (OES) instruments to determine material grades using non destructive techniques. The PMI Master Spectrometer used by the Exova team uses OES technology and is capable of analysing material with low carbon content.
Exova's Offshore team also offer portable on site hardness testing as well as replication and microstructure assessments.
