Polyfuel Secure $15.6 Million in Second Round Funding

Developers of direct methanol fuel cell technology for mobile applications, Polyfuel, have secured a further $15.6 million in second round funding from US and Canadian sources. Contributors include Ventures West, Chrysalix Energy LP, Intel Capital, Mayfield and Technology Partners.

The technology which Polyfuel is developing will dramatically increase the running time of devices such as laptop computers, wireless phones and PDA’s. The other key benefit to their technology is ‘instant recharge’.

Polyfuel have now set their sites on becoming a major player the multi-billion dollar next generation power systems industry. Having been able to attract interest from high quality investors in this climate was also seen to be a major achievement, as well as an indication of their technology.
