Westec Plastics Adds Cyclic Olefin Polymer Molding to Technical Capabilities

With the addition of another medical device company to its growing list of customers, Westec Plastics also expanded its technical capabilities to include the molding of Cyclic Olefin Polymer (COP).

In a total project timeline of 5½ weeks, Westec Plastics designed and built in its in-house, state-of-the-art, fully-capable tool shop a hardened 3-Plate, 420 Stainless Steel mold, designed, fabricated and installed a nitrogen gas metering system, and delivered fully conforming and functional parts. The nitrogen gas feed system, necessary to prevent oxidation of the COP during processing, included oxygen level monitoring to ensure operator safety.
