Robots Party in Mexico Sporting Eastman's Copolyester

In Mexico, robots are roaming auto show rooms and going to parties. Many of these automated creations are made by Roger Industries, which uses Spectar copolyester plastic from Eastman Chemical Company to create its futuristic designs. Roger has been using the material in its robots for five years.

In Mexico, robots are roaming auto show rooms and going to parties.

“Using Spectar plastic allowed us to come up with new robot designs because of the material’s insulation qualities and its transparency,” said Hector Perea, Roger industrial designer. Perea also prefers Spectar plastic because it is easy to work with. “What used to be a design challenge using other materials like acrylic, is now possible with Spectar copolyester,” said Perea.

Pera’s Mexican robot designs are sold throughout Latin America, and have been used in new car introductions, at exhibitions and are showing up as attraction at children’s parties. Roger Industries is developing new designs that allow robots to handle hazardous materials, do domestic or surveillance tasks.
