BASF to Transfer Ownership of Small European Businesses

In November BASF will transfer ownership of its European small business activities regarding technical and Styrol plastics. The transfers will affect businesses in Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, UK and Ireland.

Ownership of these activities will be transferred as follows:

  • The plastics business of Swiss BASF company Bascom AG will be sold to Albis Impex AG
  • The plastics businesses in the other countries will be handled by a newly formed company Ultrapolymers Group N.V.

European distribution will be handled as follows:

  • Albis will look after Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
  • Schulman will be responsible for France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands
  • Ultrapolymers will take care of UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Portugal

BASF has partnered with these companies as they are strong pan-European plastic distributors and also the largest plastics compounders in Europe. Under the new management structure, it is expected that customers will receive faster and more flexible service.

Ultrapolymers will consist of Ravago S.A., the management team of the new company and KBC Investco, and will be headquartered in Dilbeek, Belgium.

Other companies to be affected include Nordisa in Spain, Margo in Portugal, Cheadle Colour and Chemicals in UK/Ireland and BASF Trading Chemicals in Italy.
