Clariant Sell Off Emulsions Businesses

Clariant today announced the sale of its European emulsions business and its global emulsion powders businesses to Celanese AG (Germany) for a total of CHF 213.5 million.

The sale includes manufacturing operations in Germany, Sweden, Spain and Slovenia. The sale excludes its operations in Japan. Products from these operations are used in the coatings and adhesives industries.

The sale of the Clariant emulsions businesses is consistent with its corporate goal of focussing on its fine and specialty chemicals businesses.

Clariant is also in the process of selling off its two-thirds share in its joint venture Resiquimica-Resinas Quimicas Lda to joint venture partner Socer (Sociedade Central de Resinas) SA. This deal consists of an emulsions business that also services the coatings and adhesives industry.
