Nordson ASYMTEK Honored for its Select Coat SC-280 Precision Film Coater

Nordson ASYMTEK, a designer and manufacturer of a full line of coating and dispensing systems has received two technology innovation awards, the EM Asia Innovation Award and the SMT China VISION Award, for product innovation in the dispensing category.

The awards are presented at the NEPCON China 2012 event and they recognize Nordson ASYMTEK’s Select Coat SC-280 precision film coater. The SC-280 coater employs patented dispensing technology to apply conformal coating material in a uniform, controlled film, instead of an atomized spray. With the use of Nordson ASYMTEK’s conformal coating applicator, the coating material is accurately applied over selected areas. Thus, the tool minimizes or eliminates the rework, masking and overspray that are associated with traditional coating processes. This saves the cost, time and material usage.

The Select Coat SC-280 precision film coater achieves a clean edge pass of ±0.75mm and coating speeds of 500mm/s. It also helps to achieve faster trigger release to decrease material trail at stops, higher uniform widths at start-up and improved coating pass starts and ends. The tool offers fluid transfer efficiency of more than 99% by increasing material utilization rate by 30-50%. The SC-280 coater offers coating thicknesses ranging from10µ to 200µ for solvent-based materials and also handles viscosities below100 cps.

In addition to winning the awards for its conformal coating applicator, the company has launched NexJet System, a patent-pending jetting technology, at the NEPCON China show. The system includes Genius Jet Cartridge, a one-piece jet, which has the fluid and built-in memory for storing usage data.
