Dow Chemical to Set Up Research and Development Facility in Philadelphia

The Dow Chemical Company is all set to move its North East USA Technology Center to Collegeville, Pa. The Dow scientists will begin work next year in the sophisticated 750,000 sq. ft. research and development facility owned by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer.

The Chairman and chief Executive Officer of Andrew N. Liveris said that the newly acquired space will provide researchers with top class tools and enable them to provide differentiation for the company’s customers. He added that the move will help create more job opportunities in Montgomery County and Pennsylvania, and establish the company as a major employer in the region. The new facility will also have scope to expand in the future according to the job growth. Dow analyzed this opportunity by conducting a detailed feasibility study and concluded that the move was an excellent chance to realize all its research objectives.

The Executive Vice President of The Dow Chemical Company and the President and Chief Executive Officer of Dow Advanced Materials, Jerome Peribere stated that this opportunity will reinforce the company’s commitment to furthering research and development operations in Pennsylvania in a long-term manner. Since 1963, the Dow’s Spring House location has been manufacturing products covering vast fields including acrylic technology, water purification products, and polymers used in shampoo, lotion, conditioners and laundry detergents.
