Mentor Graphics FloTHERM XT Technology Selected Among EDN Magazine’s Hot 100 Electronics Products

Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced that the Mentor Graphics® FloTHERM® XT electronics cooling software technology was chosen as one of EDN Magazine’s Hot 100 Electronics Products for 2013 and also received the EDN China Innovation Award for Best Product in the development tool and software category.

For the Hot 100, EDN editors annually review and select the electronic industry’s most significant products of the year based on innovations, significance, usefulness and popularity. The EDN China Innovation Award is one of China’s top electronics design industry competitions and the FloTHERM XT technology was selected as one of 20 best products among 144 total entries.

The FloTHERM XT software is an industry unique thermal simulation solution designed to be used during all stages of the electronics design process – from conceptual design to manufacturing, improving product quality, reliability and time-to-market. It integrates thermal design data from electronic design automation (EDA) and mechanical design automation (MDA) domains to shorten the design cycle for ICs, boards, systems, and arbitrary shape enclosures, while providing accurate simulation and analysis results. By bringing the EDA and the MCAD design flows closer, the FloTHERM XT software enables engineers to use the same design data throughout the design flow assuring the latest and most consistent data is always at the center of the design process.

“We’re proud that our FloTHERM XT product received this recognition from EDN since our technology addresses a real need for today’s advanced electronic designs,” stated Ian Clark, FloTHERM XT product manager, Mentor Graphics Mechanical Analysis Division. “The combination of increasing power consumption and higher device density in electronic products now requires detailed thermal analysis, and FloTHERM XT provides a solution to this problem.”

About Mechanical Analysis from Mentor Graphics

The Mentor Graphics® thermal simulation and analysis products have led the market for 25 years, supporting the largest installed base of any thermal design tool supplier. In 1988 Dr. David Tatchell and Dr. Harvey Rosten founded Flomerics Ltd. and launched what became the award-winning FloTHERM® product. Mentor Graphics acquired Flomerics along with its MicReD® (Microelectronics Research and Development) group in 2008. Today, Mentor Graphics continues this technology-leading tradition, providing a broad portfolio of best-in-class upfront analysis and test/measurement solutions. These include the FloTHERM family of IC, PCB and systems thermal simulation solutions, FloEFD™ concurrent CAD-embedded CFD for 3D fluid flow and heat transfer analysis, FloVENT® for HVAC analysis, Flowmaster® 1D thermo-fluid simulation, and the T3Ster®, as well as TeraLED® transient temperature measurement systems for semiconductor and LED applications and DynTIM thermal interface material tester.
