Steel Dynamics to Purchase GalvPro Facility

Steel Dynamics have just reached an agreement to purchase the assets of GalvPro in Jeffersonville, Indiana, USA.

This facility has the ability to process up to 350,000 tonnes per year of light gauge hot dipped cold rolled galvanised steel. The plant began production in 1999, but lasted only 15 months due to financial problems and has been idled ever since.

The acquisition of the plant will compliment existing finishing lines which are running out of capacity due to demand for product.

The GalvPro plant will become part of Steel Dynamics Flat Roll Division, also based in Indiana. Under the new ownership, the Butler plant will supply the GalvPro plant with steel coils for coating.
