Alcan has announced that PCP Canada, a recently formed company based in the Saguenay, Quebec, will produce under license from Alcan aluminum cast precision plate products previously manufactured at Alcan’s Engineered Products facility in Vernon, California (USA)., PCP Canada is expected to begin production in June, 2006.
"This partnership brings Alcan’s trademarked products closer to our Midwest customers and their requirements. It will also help us grow our presence profitably in the North-American cast precision plate market," said Michel Jacques, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alcan Engineered Products.
PCP Canada is licensed to produce four Alcan trademarked products: ALCAPLUS, ALCA 5, ALCAMAX and MAX 5. Alcan will be providing technical support to ensure the seamless transfer of technology and the smooth start-up of this new operation.

Not only is the business doing well, but the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region is now stronger in its global offering to the aluminium industry," added Julien Gendron, Director, Regional Industrial Development, Alcan Primary Metal Group.
Alcan’s International Network (AIN) business unit will act as a sales representative for PCP Canada and, as before, for Alcan’s Aerospace, Transportation and Industry (ATI) business in Sierre, Switzerland that will continue to supply ALCA 5.
France-based Sermas, a sawing equipment manufacturer for the metal industry, is PCP Canada’s main shareholder.
