3 Dead from Insulation Plant Explosion

The death toll from the explosion and ensuing fire at CTA Acoustics plant in Kentucky (USA) last week has risen to three. In addition, another 4 people remain in critical condition.

In all 44 people were taken to hospital for injuries suffered during the event, several with severe burns.

Investigators have begun trying find the cause of the explosion and suspect that the levels of dust present in the plant may have played a role, although it was too early to draw any conclusions.

CTA Acoustics is the third biggest employer in Corbin, Kentucky, with a workforce of 560. They manufacture acoustic and thermal insulation products for automotive applications.

They had also recently approved a multi-million dollar upgrade to their 30 year old 30,000 square foot factory.
