Stelco have announced that they will close Welland Pipe Ltd, their large diameter pipe mill in Ontario, Canada.
The announcement follows on from the plant being idled on June 30, 2002 due to a lack of orders both current or foreseeable.
The closure will result in the loss of approximately 175 jobs. Stelco will remain active in the large diameter pipes business through its joint venture, Camrose Pipe Co. in Alberta, Canada.
