BHP Steel Opens 2 Rollforming Plants in China

BHP Steel has reaffirmed its commitment to the Chinese market by opening two new rollforming plants In China. The opening of these two state-of-the-art plants will effectively double their production capacity in China.

The first of the two plants was opened in Langfang, near Beijing today, with the second one opening in Chengdu, tomorrow. These are in addition to the plants in Shanghai and Guangzhou which were commissioned in 1995.

China has been identified as a key market for BHP Steel and they are committed to the Chinese construction industry. They have already supplied building solutions for several major public and commercial projects and are looking to supply material for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, leveraging off expertise gained during the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
