Cabot Opens Thin Film Research Facility

Cabot Supermetals, a business of Cabot Corp has opened a new facility in Ohio, USA for the development of materials for thin film applications.

The facility will be located in the Business Technology Center, Ohio, a business incubator that specialises in converting innovative technologies into commercial ventures. It will leverage off existing expertise in electronic materials and Cabot’s ability to develop new products to bring customers greater value and increased performance.

The new facility will be used to develop tantalum materials for use in semiconductors, optics, magnetics and flat panel displays. Other tantalum applications that will be addressed include barrier applications in copper-based interconnect structures, also used in semiconductors.
