Corus to Spend £6m for A New Composite Panel Production Line at Shotton

Corus, a leading player in the composite panel market is to invest £6m in new Composite Panel lines at its Shotton facilities in the UK, in order to further strengthen its position in response to the increasing market demand for factory insulated panels.

“The new lines together with Corus’ current panel operations in Ammanford in Wales, will help achieve our strategy to grow our market position in composite panels in the UK and Ireland,” a spokesperson said.

The market in the UK and the Republic of Ireland for factory insulated panels has continued to show strong growth, and in 2005 the UK panels market exceeded that for site “built-up” systems. The location of the new lines takes full advantage of the existing coil coating facilities at Shotton, and will increase supply chain flexibility resulting in shorter lead times to customers. The production facilities at Corus’ Ammanford site are also currently being streamlined to focus only on Composite Panel production.
