DSM to Shut Down Elastomer Operation

Following the release of the first quarter results in April, which indicated poor performance due to depressed markets and unfavourable currency variations, DSM have released restructuring plans for the company. These include:

  • Temporary or permanent shut down of DSM Elastomers and DSM Pharmaceuticals
  • Further improvements in the supply/demand chain for DSM Elastomers, DSM Fine Chemicals, DSM Food Specialties and DSM Pharmaceutical Products.

These changes will result in the loss of a further 500 jobs on top of the 100 job losses that were previously announced after the release of the first quarter results.
