Further Restructuring Plans for Akzo Nobel

Akzo Nobel have announced further restructuring plans, after plans executed in March failed to have a significant affect. In March, Akzo Nobel ceased production at facilities in Gillingham, UK and Burt, USA.

The restructuring moves designed to improve the polymers business’ performance are deemed critical to its long term future. The latest round of changes will result in 150 job losses from areas such as research and development, control and accounting, information management, sales, and administration and manufacturing.

The restructuring programme will take place during the remainder of 2003 and into 2004.
