Alcan Invest CHF15m in Specialty Foam Plant in Switzerland

Alcan has invested approximately CHF15 million in a new production line for its leading AIREX® closed-cell specialty foam at its Alcan Airex facility in Sins, Switzerland to satisfy increasing customer demand and enhance workplace safety standards. The new facility is scheduled to be completed in Q4 2007, and local companies are being engaged in order to prepare and build the expansion.

"This expansion reflects an increase in the global demand for core materials, in particular the sandwich construction segment," said Georg Reif, President, Alcan Composites. "With this investment in Sins, Alcan will further serve its customers and distributors in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Alcan intends to further consolidate its position as a leading and reliable manufacturer of AIREX® closed-cell specialty foam," he added.

Alcan Airex produces and markets core materials for sandwich constructions as well as plastic sheet materials for displays, POS/POP applications (point of sale/point of purchase), signs and trade fair construction. The Company has brands in the visual communication sector (FOREX®)), in core materials for sandwich constructions (AIREX®)), and AIREX® exercise mats are known throughout the world. Alcan Airex celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006. The Company employs 210 people.
