Holland Colours has been named Valspar’s exclusive agent for sales and service of the ValOR® barrier resin product line for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as of Feb. 1, 2007. Through this cooperation, Holland Colours is extending its PET packaging product portfolio and service offering to customers.
ValOR® barrier resins help improve shelf life of food and beverage products while providing better flavour and aroma protection. They are also popular with manufacturers who want to package in smaller sizes while maintaining freshness.

Under the agreement, Holland Colours will sell three ValOR® product lines: ValOR® Activ100, ValOR® ActivBloc100 and ValOR® Bloc100. These three grades of ValOR® barrier resins provide superior gas barrier performance to control oxygen levels and retain carbonation. They can be used in all PET packaging for food, beverage and medical applications, package designs and storage conditions.
ValOR® products, which were introduced two years ago, are easily processed compared to other resins. They offer substantial improvements in delamination resistance along with excellent clarity. They are appropriate for use in multilayer or monolayer PET bottles. ValOR® barrier resins may be used in direct food contact based on FDA and EU regulations, and are recyclable without significant negative effects on the existing recycling stream.
- ValOR® Activ100 is designed as an oxygen scavenger for monolayer bottles or blended in multilayer packaging.
- ValOR® ActivBloc100 provides oxygen scavenging and an oxygen/carbon dioxide barrier for multilayer bottles; and
- ValOR® Bloc100 supplies a passive gas barrier for multilayer bottles.
