The new plant will use innovative Regenerative Thermal Oxidization technology for efficient pitch fume treatment. The plant is designed for the annual production of 500,000 tonnes of green anodes and the commissioning of the first production line is scheduled for June 2009.

"Aluminum consumption is growing fast and our customers are expecting it to double by 2020. Therefore, aluminum industry is continuously investing in new capacity. The Middle East is attracting aluminum producers because the region offers competitively priced energy for the needs of highly energy-intensive aluminum production. Thanks to our broad technology portfolio, the Middle East offers a lot of possibilities for Outotec and we see many new aluminum and other prospects in the area", says Tapani Järvinen, President and CEO of Outotec.
