Titanium Alloys – Ti5.5Al3.5Sn3Zr1Nb Physical and Mechanical Properties, Fabrication and Applications

Chemical Formula

Ti5.5Al3.5Sn3Zr1Nb

Background

Also known as Timetal 829, this is a weldable, creep resistant alloy developed for gas turbine engine components, offering creep resistance up to 540°C (1000°F) with good oxidation resistance. It is a near alpha alloy but includes additional alpha and beta stabilising alloying elements. Ti5.5Al3.5Sn3Zr1Nb also has good forgeability
