Introduction

The UNS C93900 alloy is a high-leaded tin bronze copper casting alloy. Other types of bronze alloys include phosphor bronze, tin bronze, aluminum bronze, silicon bronze, architectural bronze and manganese bronze.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Welding

Soldering is suitable for UNS C93900 alloy. Welding processes not recommended for this alloy include brazing, gas shielded arc welding, carbon arc welding, coated metal arc welding and oxyacetylene welding.

Machinability

The machinability rating of UNS C93900 alloy is 80.

Heat Treatment

UNS C93900 alloy has stress relieving temperature of 260°C (500°F). This alloy does not react to heat treatment. The time at temperature for this alloy is one hour per inch of section thickness.

Applications

UNS C93900 alloy is used for pump bodies, bearings, mine water impellers and continuous castings.
