Introduction

Zinc aluminum (ZA) alloys are alloys with zinc as the base metal with higher concentrations of aluminum than traditional zinc alloys. Other metals that are present on these alloys are magnesium and copper. The concentration of aluminum in the alloy is represented in the number of the alloy, for e.g. ZA27 means the aluminum percentage is 27.

Zinc aluminum alloys are high performance alloys that exhibit good strength and hardness. They also show good wear resistant properties when compared to zinc or aluminum alloys. Some of the common zinc-aluminum alloys are ZA8, ZA12 and ZA27. Another class of zinc aluminum alloys is ZAMAK alloys.

ZA8 alloy is a die cast alloy with short freezing and excellent fluidity during die casting. It is suitable for use in thin wall components due to its good hardness, strength and pressure tightness. This datasheet will elaborate on the chemical composition and properties of ZA8 alloy.
