Introduction

A variety of finishes can be given to zinc die cast alloys, gold, weathered brass, steel and leather are some of the finishes that can be done on zinc die cast alloys.

Zinc has a high density; hence its alloy castings are much more durable than their plastic counterparts. There are 4 main types of die cast zinc alloys, namely, ZP3, ZP5, ZP2 and ZP8. These alloys are die cast in the hot chamber in accordance with the European Standard – EN12844. ZP3 and ZP5 are most commonly used zinc die cast alloys.

This datasheet will look into the chemical composition, properties and applications of zinc die casting alloy – ZP5.
