Introduction

Nicrofer 5716 alloy is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy containing tungsten and low amounts of carbon and silicon. The alloy is characterized by excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion and pitting.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Machinability

Nicrofer 5716 alloy has good machinability.

Forming

The alloy can be formed by all conventional means.

Welding

The alloy can be welded using all conventional welding techniques, except that excess heat should be avoided.

Heat Treatment

Nicrofer 5716 alloy is heat-treated at 1121°C (2050°F) followed by rapid quenching.

Hot Working

The alloy can be hot formed or extruded followed by solution heat treating.

Cold Working

Cold working of nicrofer 5716 alloy can be performed through conventional means.

Annealing

The alloy can be annealed in the solution treated condition at 1121°C (2050°F).
